A retinal detachment is a serious condition where the retina separates from the inside of your eye. It can be repaired with surgery, but it needs to be detected and treated quickly to stop permanent sight loss. Retinal detachment separates the retinal cells from the layer of blood vessels that provides oxygen and nourishment to the eye. The longer retinal detachment goes untreated, the greater your risk of permanent vision loss in the affected eye.

Yes, it's possible to have the symptoms above and not develop a retinal detachment, but there's no way to tell unless your eye is examined, so it's definitely a case of 'better to be safe than sorry'!

Your eyesight is too valuable to ignore any warning signs. If you notice any changes in your vision, please get in touch so we can give you a comprehensive eye test.
